Our Mission
Founded in 2021 by Hannah Zeavin and Alex Colston, The Psychosocial Foundation is a nonprofit educational organization that exists to advance our understanding of where the social, political, and psychological converge.
Home to multiple persuasions within psychoanalysis—the tradition inaugurated by Sigmund Freud—our programming, publishing, clinical education, and clinical work illuminates the psychogenic dimensions of culture and society, mental health and medicine, and political life.
Our Location
Starting in Fall 2026, The Psychosocial Foundation operates out of 1736 Franklin Street in Oakland. You can visit Parapraxis Books there, the only psychoanalytic bookstore in the United States, come to one of our courses, seminars, or events, learn more about the Known and Elsewhere Collective, or host your event with us.
Support Our Work
All donations to the Psychosocial Foundation 501(c)(3) are tax-deductible and go to supporting our activities. Donations can be ear-marked for any of our activities, including maintaining our space, supporting our clinicians, or the printing of Parapraxis, or donated to general operations. To discuss donations of any size, contact us at psychosocial.foundation@gmail.com, or donate here.
